Lichen Reduction Linoleum Print
This print was inspired by my love of microscopic marine life (including radiolarians and volvox) and lichens.
This print has torn and deckled edges, is on a lightweight printmaking paper with slight ridges, and is approximately 8x8 inches (20x20 cm). There is no white border, the image extends to the edge of the print. The print is signed, numbered, dated, and titled on the back. It is a limited edition of 21 prints with 1 AP. Its title is “Teloschistes chrysopthalmus and immobile Volvox.” Because I like to make each print slightly different, they vary when it comes to ink amounts. Some have slightly more ink, and some have slightly less. The one pictured is average. Each and every one is beautiful. If you have a preference, please indicate your preference in the message at checkout. Your print will arrive in a plastic sleeve in a bend-proof mailer.
Linoleum reduction prints are made by cutting part of the block to make the first color, then more to make the second color, etc. This print went through the Vandercook letterpress 5 times, with a different color of ink each time. One color layer is very subtle.
To care for your print, keep it away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Always use a mat or spacers when framing to keep the print away from the glass.
